Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

BRAINZO is a voice tutor for JEE preparation, run by Aryan Bansal from Bathinda, Punjab, India. This page explains exactly what we collect, which other companies see it, and how you can get it deleted. If anything here is unclear, email albansal13@gmail.com.

Students under 18

Most JEE aspirants are under 18. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we need a parent or legal guardian's consent before processing a child's personal data, and we are not allowed to track children for advertising.

  • We do not ask your age. At signup there is a single tickbox, and you cannot create an account without it. It states that you accept these terms and that, if you are under 18, your parent or guardian has given permission for the account. We record that confirmation and its date against your account. We do not verify it: nobody is asked their age, and no guardian is contacted separately.
  • We do not run behavioural advertising, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers — for any user, of any age.
  • A guardian can ask us to delete the account and everything in it at any time by emailing us. We action it within 30 days.

What we collect

  • Account: your name and your email address. We also record that you ticked the consent box, and when. We do not collect your age or date of birth.
  • Study activity: which chapters you open, questions you attempt and whether they were right, your notes and mind maps, and how far along each chapter you are. Today this is stored on your own device, in your browser — it does not reach our servers, and clearing your browser data deletes it. When we move it to our servers so it follows you between devices, we will say so here first.
  • Conversations with the tutor: the text of what you asked and what the tutor answered.
  • Doubt photos: if you photograph a question, that image is sent to an AI model to be read and solved.
  • Usage counts: how many tutor turns you have used today, so we can apply fair-use limits.

Your voice

This part matters, so it gets its own section.

  • We never store recordings of your voice. No audio file of you is saved on our servers, ever.
  • Speech-to-text is done by your browser's built-in speech recognition. In Chrome and Edge, that means the audio is sent to Google or Microsoft respectively for transcription — by the browser, under their privacy policies, not ours. Only the resulting text reaches us.
  • The tutor's voice is generated by Microsoft's Edge text-to-speech service. The tutor's words are sent there to be turned into audio. Your voice is not.
  • The microphone only listens while a tutoring session is running. Closing the session stops it.

Who else sees your data

  • Supabase — stores your account and study data.
  • Vercel — hosts the app and processes requests.
  • opencode.ai — the gateway that passes your questions, conversation text and doubt photos to the AI models that answer them.
  • Microsoft— turns the tutor's replies into speech.

Some of these process data outside India. We do not sell your data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Your account and study data stay until you delete your account. Usage counters are purged after 7 days. When you ask for deletion, we remove your account, progress, notes and conversation history within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also withdraw consent, which means closing the account. Email albansal13@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Your plan and usage records can only be written by our server, never by the browser. We are a small operation and do not claim to be un-hackable — if we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will show a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
